A cause that hits home for many — fighting cancer — plus celebrity chefs and vintners — made Five Star Sensation a successful fundraiser for University Hospitals, but a changing donor and media landscape meant it was time to adapt and grow. Enter Inbloom.

Five Star Sensation is a food-and-wine event that raises funds for University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Seidman is one of only 45 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States. Since its inception in 1989, Five Star has raised more than $18 million to support research and community outreach programs at Seidman. Every two years, more than 80 chefs and vintners and up to 2,500 guests gather for Five Star Sensation.
In 2017, Inbloom was asked to provide outsourced project management, volunteer management, marketing communications and registration activities and consulting to continue to develop Five Star Sensation event as a national food and wine event to benefit UH Seidman Cancer Center.
Project goalS
- Raising the profile of Five Star Sensation through expanded media coverage
- Updating the feel of the event, to attract a new generation of attendees
- Improving the registration process to capture more information from event attendees, specifically VIPs and their guests, to support UH stewardship goals
The Services
In the six months leading up to Five Star Sensation 2017, Inbloom provided an extensive array of project management services, specifically focused on communications, fundraising, registration and volunteer management.
At the event, Inbloom led registration, managed volunteers, offered comprehensive support for media relations and social media, coordinated with event vendors like BidPal, and staffed stations at the silent auction, wine pull and registration.
At the close of the project, Inbloom provided a detailed report capturing insights and recommendations for future Five Star events.
